How Can My Beneficiary Claim the Account?
IRA Accounts
Your beneficiary must complete and submit:
- The IRA Beneficiary Claim Request Form. This form must have a Medallion Signature Guarantee.
- An IRA Account Application. This is required whether taking a full distribution or keeping the assets invested with Homestead Funds.
- A death certificate for the account owner if not already provided.
If the deceased shareholder was Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) age, passed away in the current year and was not in a Roth IRA, you will need to tell us how to handle the RMD on the IRA Beneficiary Claim Request Form. It is the beneficiary’s responsibility to determine if the RMD has been met for the year. Please consult a tax advisor for more information.

Your beneficiary must complete and submit:
- The Transfer on Death Beneficiary Claim Form.
- An Individual or Joint Account Application. This is required whether taking a full distribution or keeping the assets invested with Homestead Funds.
- Forms should be mailed to the address on the form.
